Plain summary

Use the Autophagy app and website at your own risk. Nothing here is medical advice. The app is a logger for practices associated with the biological process of autophagy. It doesn't diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure anything. Before you start fasting, cold immersion, sauna use, breathing protocols, or any new exercise programme, talk to a qualified healthcare professional, especially if you have any pre-existing condition.

1. What Autophagy is

Autophagy is an iOS app and accompanying website. The app lets you log five practices (fasting, exercise, cold immersion, sauna, Reset Breathing), see your activity in a daily score and weekly grid, and read supporting articles. The website hosts those articles and supporting content.

2. Not medical advice

The information in the app and on the website is general and educational. It is not medical, clinical, nutritional, or therapeutic advice. We are not a healthcare provider. We don't have a doctor-patient or practitioner-client relationship with you.

The practices described — fasting, cold immersion, sauna use, breath work, exercise — can cause harm if practised carelessly or by people who shouldn't be doing them. Don't begin any of these practices on the strength of anything you read here without first checking with a doctor or other qualified professional who knows your medical history.

3. Specific safety reminders

• Cold immersion can trigger cold-shock response and is dangerous for people with cardiovascular conditions. Never practise it alone in open water. Never combine it with alcohol.
• Breath-hold protocols, including the cyclical breathing protocol we call Reset Breathing in the app, can cause loss of consciousness. Never practise them in water or while driving.
• Fasting beyond 24 hours has medical considerations. People with eating disorders, diabetes, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not fast without medical supervision.
• Sauna use raises core temperature and stresses the cardiovascular system. Limit session duration if you're new to it, and stop if you feel faint.
• Any new training programme should be ramped up gradually and adapted to your fitness baseline.

If you experience symptoms during any of these practices that are unusual or alarming, stop immediately and seek medical advice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app beyond what's allowed by applicable law
• Use the content of the website or app to claim Autophagy endorses any specific medical or commercial product or service
• Use the app or website for any unlawful purpose
• Misrepresent yourself as the operator of Autophagy

5. Account, subscriptions, and pricing

The Autophagy app does not require an account. You don't sign in.

The current version of the app is free. A premium tier is planned for a future release. If you reserve "founder pricing" through the app, you are expressing a non-binding intent to subscribe at the founder rate when the premium tier launches. No charge is taken at the point of reservation. The founder rate is honoured at our discretion once the premium tier ships and only for users who reserved before its launch.

If and when subscriptions are activated, they will be processed by Apple under Apple's standard in-app purchase terms. You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID in iOS Settings.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the autophagy.fit website (articles, images, logos) and within the app (interface, copy, artwork) is owned by Alamex Ltd or its licensors and protected by copyright. You may read, share, and quote articles for non-commercial purposes with attribution and a link back. Bulk republication or commercial reuse requires written permission.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Autophagy app and website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alamex Ltd and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the app or website, including but not limited to physical injury, loss of data, or loss of earnings.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the law of England and Wales.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. The current version's effective date is at the top. Material changes will be flagged inside the app on next launch.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
